Hi Everyone, It’s that time of the year to be getting ready for the Cowboy Gathering at the Devils Hole Ranch , August 19-22, 2010. The Gathering started 10 years ago as a vacation style trail riding weekend for people that enjoy riding the countryside especially here in SW Wisconsin. We provide a different type of terrain as compared to other areas of the state. The weekend includes a trail ride on the ranch Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We also offer a cattle drive (moving cattle from one location to another) on Friday afternoon for those that are interested. Your package also includes Friday noon lunch and Friday Night Steak supper. For those of you wanting to take in the Concert (Roy Rogers Jr. Band) in Viroqua sponsored by Wild West Days and AART you will have that opportunity as well. Wild West Days also puts on an all horse parade at 6pm in Viroqua. There will be a breakfast Saturday before the morning trail ride. Saturday day we encourage you to take a trip to Viroqua (35 miles from the ranch) and enjoy a step back in time and attend Wild West Days and the Rodeo that evening.(Tickets for both are included) Back at the Ranch Saturday night will be a band(TBA) and small open bar. We will also have some kind of activity planned for Saturday afternoon for those that choose to stay at the ranch. Sunday morning there will be a 3-4 hour ride to the original Devil’s Hole Spot. A more detailed schedule and waivers will be mailed out to riders at a later date. DETAILS: Fee for 2010: $180/person Deposit: $90 (non-refundable) due by April 1, 2010. We are only taking 50 people this year. We are hoping this allows us to be able to give our guests more personal attention. Sorry but no dogs allowed. This is for your animals’ safety. The ranch has a couple of cow dogs that travel with the cowboys and we would not want someone else’s pet hurt. There is an age limit of 18 unless prior arrangements have been made with us. This is primarily an adult weekend. Cowboy Showers are on the grounds. (Some years they are warm, some cool ) Water: We will have a water truck come through the campsites each morning so you can fill your containers. If you need water in between there is a well pump at the building site. Ranch Gear will be available for purchase this year as well. (T-shirts, tanks, hooded sweatshirts, button down shirts) Reminder: We have some very rugged terrain! More Info: If you are interested in more of a Cattle working type getaway then the ranch also puts on events such as Cowgirl Bootcamp in May (women only 3 day event.) We still have a weekend open: or Roundup which entails rounding up a group of cattle, sorting, roping in the branding pen, wrestling calves, castrating, vaccinating, and ear tagging. This event is open to 20 people max with meals and non alcoholic beverages provided. For more information on these events please contact us.
